Here’s a story you might not hear every day: A woman from Freemont, Ohio was indicted this week for first-degree rape and aggravated robbery, both felonies. The incident in question took place during late January 2017.

Brittany Carter, 23 years old, has a standing criminal record prior to these recent charges. She was indicted twice during 2016 on drug charges of heroin possession and permitting use of a vehicle for trafficking heroin.
While it should not be automatically assumed a drug habit and previous charges should lead a female to commit sexual assault, her previous record demonstrates a willingness to participate in criminal behavior. When you learn more about the people with whom she associates, you may find this was a perfect storm for further violations. Read on to find out what happened this winter.

Carter called Trinity Express Cab Service late at night on 28 January. Around 4:25 A.M., Carter got into a cab in front of the Townplace Suites hotel with two black males

One of the two suspects who joined Carter in the cab has been identified as Cory Jackson, 20 years old. Jackson is already wanted by the police; there is an unrelated murder warrant out of Lima, Ohio for his arrest.
At some point during their cab ride in January, reports say Jackson pulled a knife on the driver. Carter allegedly performed an unspecified sex act on the victim.

According to the News-Messenger, Findlay Detective Lt. Robert Ring offered his opinion about the sexual act. “We don’t know why she did it, ” he told them. “Maybe it was a distraction because they took money from him.”

The Smoking Gun provided details from Carter’s indictment reporting she “‘purposefully compelled’ the cabbie to engage in sexual conduct by force or threat of force.” Then Carter and Jackson stole $32 from the driver’s pocket.
The driver went to the Findlay police to report the incident resulting in warrants issued for the arrest of both Carter and Jackson. The third passenger has not as yet been identified and the local prosecutor does not anticipate pressing charges against the unidentified person.

Carter was taken into custody on 10 April. She is being held at the Hancock County Jail on a $60,000 bond (That’s $30K for each felony). Jackson is still at large and charged for aiding and abetting the sexual assault of the cab driver (in addition to the murder warrant).
